City of Wolverhampton College, Paget Road Campus

Service: Repair and Maintenance

Project

Ten year Planned Preventative Maintenance Plan for a sixth form college campus.

The client required a costed planned maintenance report for the campus which comprised several multi-storey academic teaching blocks and specialist vocational course teaching buildings. The portfolio had a variety of types and age of building and the client required the maintenance data to assist in preparing Government funding bids.

Challenges

  • The various construction blocks had differing types of construction and maintenance requirements which was an important factor to highlight in the report.
  • Disruption to teaching activities during the survey had to be minimised.
  • The report needed to be compatible with Department for Education condition and repair priority classifications.

Solution

The grouping of the buildings and different construction types was agreed with the client to ensure a thorough representation the condition of the campus, with sufficient detail to ensure the complexity of the maintenance requirements was not over-simplified in the report.

We also agreed to supplement the usual condition and priority definitions in the report with the classifications defined in Department for Education standards to ensure compatibility in the bid applications. The Planned Preventative Maintenance plan was suitable for a variety of uses, including planning estate works and budgeting.
