Project
Area Referencing Report of the commercial office areas in Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings for Historic England. The former flax mill is a five storey Grade I Listed building built 1796 and was restored and refurbished by Historic England in 2022 as a mixed use development.
An area referencing report was required for the inclusion of information within the leases of the commercial space, determining leased areas, communal areas and circulation areas. The refurbishment had created many new internal layouts and detailed space utilisation information was required.
Challenges
- The building was historic with irregular internal layouts.
- Client required a detailed level of categorisation of space use.
Solution
We recommended that the Area Referencing Report was undertaken in compliance with the International Property Measurement Standards guidelines to provide both the complexity of categorisation and a recognised form of standardisation for the report.
The report included layout plans that provided illustration of the space use and area measurement.
